There is incense, and then there is Encens Chembur. Imagine yourself lying in the grass in a sunny spot just outside Mumbai, the scents of fresh citrus and spicy ginger wafting from the remains of your half-eaten lunch, abandoned when the sun beckoned you to close your eyes in recline. As you doze, the breeze brings the crystalline, transcendent aroma of holy incense from a nearby temple. The sun warms you as you dream golden dreams, the amber scent of your warmed skin floating in the air, swirling and mingling with the incense until you reach a sleepy nirvana. 

Byredo founder Ben Gorham's mother was born and raised in Chembur, originally a picnic spot near Mumbai, and Encens Chembur is his tribute to that happy place.
